Plot


A hit-and-run involving an 18-year-old girl generates several suspicions, only to reveal that the truth is rarely clean and never straightforward.

Maya Menon (Vidya Balan) is a successful, wealthy, truth-telling, prominent television journalist with good morals. She hosts the popular TV show "Face The Truth" and has celebrity status, which is sought after by her opponents, peers, and juniors alike. In her personal life, she lives with her son, Ayush, who has Cerebral Palsy, and her mother.

 She has a love involvement with her employer. Maya gets along well with her ex-husband, who is now happily married to his current Russian bride and the couple has a newborn son. Throughout her entire life Maya's life appears to be perfect until one fatal night when she falls asleep at the wheel of her automobile while driving home late from work. She accidently smashes a little child who emerges out of nowhere in front of her automobile. After the collision, she comes to a halt and sees another onlooker fleeing the scene, which frightens her and causes her to escape the area, not realising that everything has been filmed on a nearby CCTV camera.



Maya returns home distraught. She examines the damage to her automobile and covers it up. Again, security cameras caught him. Rukhsana (Shefali Shah) looks after and cooks for her kid. Rukhsana had spent the night at Maya's request because she was running late that night. Rukhsana adores Ayush as if he were her own son. She notices Maya is unhappy but decides to ignore it.

The plot begins to unravel the next morning. Rukhsana's daughter is revealed to be the little girl. Rukhsana is perplexed and ashamed as to why her 18-year-old daughter was out so late at night, and what she was doing in the neighbourhood where the hit-and-run occurred.
The police officer assigned to the investigation uncovers (with CCTV evidence) his own transgression that occurred an hour before the tragedy. As a result, he is determined to keep the CCTV footage (the only proof of Maya's crime) hidden and to conceal the case for his own safety and well-being in light of his daughter's imminent wedding.


The man exiting the scene was presumed to be the man the girl had gone out late at night to visit. He had made physical approaches toward her, and she was rushing away from him when she was struck. As a result, he chooses to remain silent for his own safety. It is only afterwards that it is disclosed that the girl was present.to create videos for social media posting in order to gain more followers The girl had lately broken up with her mechanic's shop boyfriend.

Maya's driver, who sees the car damaged and a girl's earring lodged in the smashed glass, suspects Maya, but he maintains silent because he needs half a million dollars from Maya to support his family's crucial costs.

Maya confesses her crime to her employer, but he advises her to remain silent since he is shielding both the news station (which is enormously successful because of Maya) and himself from the revelation of his personal relationship with her.

The journalist who is investigating the case and discovering all the realities happens to work for Maya and has a great deal of respect for her. Due to domestic family demands, she also requires her career and money.

Do any of these individuals come forward? How Do they suffer from personal guilt, and what effect does it have on them? May the intricacies of everyone's truth ever be known so that the case can be resolved fairly? Jalsa takes the audience on this journey and leaves the finish up to the viewer.
